Kaspa’s research and launch

Kaspa grew from research on ordering concurrent proof-of-work blocks into a public mainnet. Follow the research, November 2021 launch, and later implementation changes without treating a proposal or release as activation.

    Allow concurrent blocks.

    The PHANTOM and GHOSTDAG work examined how a graph of proof-of-work blocks could support an ordered history.

  2. Before launch

    DAGLabs and early development

    DAGLabs explored development and launch paths before Kaspa’s public mainnet. The eventual mining-based launch was not a token presale carried through unchanged.

  3. 7 November 2021

    Mainnet starts.

    Kaspa launched without an official premine or coin allocation. Coins entered circulation through mining. That does not imply equal knowledge, hardware, or access among early participants.

  4. Implementation

    Rust, Crescendo, and Toccata

    Rusty Kaspa replaced the earlier Go implementation. Crescendo increased the block rate; Toccata added consensus capabilities. Each change has its own release and activation evidence.
